Model answer (Band 8-9)

Part 1

Original model answer written by our team for practice — not an official IELTS answer.

1. What does your typical day look like?

On a typical day, I get up around seven and have a quick breakfast while checking the news on my phone. Then I usually head to work by bus and spend most of the day in front of a computer. After work, I like to unwind by going for a short walk or doing a home workout. In the evening, I cook something simple, chat with my family, and watch a series before going to bed.

2. Are you a morning person or an evening person?

To be honest, I’m definitely more of a morning person. My mind feels sharper and I can concentrate much better before lunch. In the evenings, I tend to slow down and I’m more inclined to relax than to tackle anything demanding. What I mean is, if I have something important to do, I always try to schedule it early in the day.

3. What is the first thing you do after you wake up?

The first thing I do is open the curtains and let some natural light in. It helps me wake up properly and puts me in a better mood. Then I usually drink a big glass of water, because I feel quite dehydrated after sleeping. Only after that do I look at my phone and quickly check my messages or emails.

4. Do you prefer weekdays or weekends?

I’d say I definitely prefer weekends, because there’s much more freedom and I don’t have to stick to a strict schedule. On Saturdays, I often meet friends for coffee or do some errands, and Sundays are usually slower and more relaxing. Having that time to recharge really helps me stay productive and positive during the week.
