Riverside Community Leisure Centre – Membership Information

Welcome to Riverside, your local centre for sport, fitness and relaxation. Whether you want to swim, join a fitness class or simply meet friends in our café, we have something for everyone. Please read the following information carefully before signing up.

Opening hours

The centre is open Monday to Friday from 6.30 a.m. to 10.00 p.m., and on Saturdays and Sundays from 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. The swimming pool closes thirty minutes before the rest of the building. During public holidays the centre operates on reduced hours; these are displayed at reception and on our website one week in advance.

Membership options

We offer three types of membership. The Standard membership gives you unlimited use of the gym and swimming pool. The Plus membership adds free entry to all group fitness classes, which non-members and Standard members must otherwise book and pay for individually. The Family membership covers two adults and up to three children living at the same address, and represents the best value for households. All memberships are billed monthly and may be paused for up to two months per year if you are unwell or away.

Joining

To join, bring proof of your address and a form of photo identification to reception. There is a one-off joining fee of £20, which is waived if you sign up during the first week of any month. New members receive a free half-hour session with a fitness instructor, who will show you how to use the equipment safely. Booking this session is strongly recommended but not compulsory.

Using the facilities

Members must swipe their membership card at the entrance each time they visit. Please do not allow anyone else to use your card, as this may result in your membership being cancelled. Lockers are available in the changing rooms; these require a refundable £1 coin, which is returned when you collect your belongings. The centre cannot accept responsibility for items left unattended outside a locker.

Children

Children under the age of eight must be accompanied by an adult at all times, including in the pool. Young people aged between eight and fifteen may use the gym only during supervised youth sessions, which run on weekday afternoons and Saturday mornings. Details of these sessions are available from reception.
