Reading Passage
Text A — Millbrook Lantern Festival
Saturday 19 October, Riverside Park, 4.00 p.m. – 9.00 p.m.
Join us for the town's favourite autumn event! A lantern-making workshop will be held at the library at 2.00 p.m.; booking is essential, all materials are provided, and the cost is £3 per child (accompanying adults free). The lantern parade leaves the library at 6.30 p.m. and makes its way through the town to the park.
Hot food and drinks will be on sale — please note that the food stalls accept cash only. There is no parking at Riverside Park; instead, a free shuttle bus runs from the railway station every 15 minutes throughout the evening. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead. The evening ends with a firework display at 8.45 p.m., which will be cancelled in the event of heavy rain.
Text B — Millbrook Farmers' Market
Because the Town Square is being repaved, the weekly farmers' market is moving to Memorial Gardens from 1 September. As usual, the market runs every Saturday from 8.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m., with more than forty stalls selling local cheese, bread, vegetables and flowers. On the first Saturday of every month the market also hosts a craft fair.
Shoppers are asked to bring their own bags, as stallholders no longer provide plastic ones. Are you under 18 and growing your own fruit or vegetables? Our free 'young grower' stall lets you sell your home-grown produce at no charge — apply to the market manager for details.
Text C — Changes to bus route 46
From Monday 23 September, route 46 buses will no longer stop at Mill Lane, owing to roadworks that are expected to last six weeks. A temporary stop has been set up on Bridge Street, two minutes' walk away. In addition, evening services after 8.00 p.m. will run every hour rather than every thirty minutes. The Sunday timetable is unchanged. Up-to-date departure times can be found on the operator's website and phone app. Ticket prices are not affected by these changes.
